Chris Snow, Chair
US Composting Council
Chris has over 30 years of municipal solid waste management experience in the areas of organics recycling, solid waste collection and recycling programs, disaster debris management, and capital projects planning and construction management. Chris has an undergraduate degree in Resource Management, and a Masters in Urban Planning from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.
Charlie Pioli, Vice Chair
O-Town Compost
Charlie Pioli, started his career in solid waste & recycling consulting, where he witnessed the egregious waste our country produces on a regular basis. Spurred to action, he started O-Town Compost, because he thought it'd be fun, and to give his community a sustainable option to recycle their food scraps.
David Hill, Secretary
Consultant
Mr. Hill is an independent consultant to the environmental, recycling industries. Prior to to that he was the principal at CycleLogic Environmental Marketing and Consultation. He has more than 30 years in compost operations and marketing experience. He has a bachelor’s degree is in horticulture and his master’s degree in marketing. Prior to starting CycleLogic, Mr. Hill was the Project Manager and Marketing Manager with Veolia Water North America at the Baltimore City Composting Facility. He was responsible for annually producing and profitably marketing between 75,000 and 85,000 cubic yards of ORGRO® brand compost, while managing this facility. Previously, he managed 3 yard trim composting facilities serving 5 counties in Maryland. As Project Manager, he was responsible for the production and marketing of greater than 160,000 cubic yards of compost per year for these combined facilities.
Levin Gaston, Treasurer
Gaston Tree Debris Recycling and Gaston Mulch and Soil
Levin is the COO at Gaston Tree Debris Recycling and Gaston Mulch and Soil, focusing on regenerating our soil and water using repurposed material from the urban forest! He also has experience as a John Maxwell Certified Speaker, Coach, Trainer. Experienced in Disaster Debris Planning and Operations. He’s been in the industry since 1972 as a founder of Gaston Tree Service, opened Florida’s first state recognized wood recycling facility in Gainesville in 1986. Served on recycling committees with the FDEP TAG committee, UF, City of Gainesville, and USDA.
Xavier DeRoos, Director
Renüable
I’m the founder of Renüable. We operate event, commercial, drop off, and residential composting services around most of the state. We currently serve Miami Dade, Broward, Tampa and St. Pete, Sarasota, Gainesville, Orlando, and many of the areas in between.
Gary Bilbro, Director
EcoSafe Zero Waste
Gary Bilbro is a recycling professional with experience working with Organics diversion, Composting, Waste-to-Energy, Curbside recycling, and consulting with public, private and non-profit associations within the industry. Gary is Director of Sales, US for EcoSafe Zero Waste, which provides programs and tools, including compostable liners for waste generators to divert organics from the waste stream with a goal of producing contaminant free material for composters and making Zero Waste to Landfill possible.
Dustin Dubois, Director
Filthy Organics
Dustin DuBois is the Founder of Filthy Organics. He is an entrepreneur, veteran and former Navy SWCC. Serving in the United States Navy, he was stationed in San Diego. Here he became submerged in the California culture and found the importance of recycling and sustainable living. He has since carried these principles and ideas back to Florida, where he resides on a plot of land with his wife, 2 sons, a dog, a few chickens and lots of bees.
Michelle Owen, Director
Atlas Organics
Michelle Owen is the General Manager at Atlas Organics, where she oversees operations at five composting facilities across Florida, managing the diversion and processing of over 275,000 tons of organic material and food waste annually. With more than a decade of leadership experience in the composting industry, Michelle has a strong background in operational management, regulatory compliance, and market development, with experience spanning Florida, Texas, and California. She holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University and has been an active member of the U.S. Composting Council since 2015.
Carter Williams, Director
Organics Management Holdings
Carter Williams is the Chief Operation Officer for Organics Management. Carter has over 20 years of executive leadership experience in multiple industries. Since joining Organics Management in early 2023 Carter has embraced organics recycling and promoting soil health through the use of compost. Organics Management is a leader in the Florida compost industry. Carter has a degree in Economics from the University of Florida.
